What This Is
The Healing Foods Immersion is a structured, hands-on learning opportunity rooted in Food as Medicine and food preparation for optimal health benefits.
Restoration of intergenerational knowledge of healing foods combined with traditional healing systems will allow for a greater understanding of the healing process to support yourself and loved ones to achieve higher levels of wellness and prevent disease complications.
Weave the preparation of healing foods and beverages into day-to-day practical application to slow or reverse disease progression.
Learn through didactic evening sessions, sunrise harvest hands-on learning experiences and on-farm kitchen, collective, creative food preparation opportunities.
Become more attuned to your own body’s healing experience by having more congruent eating and drinking experiences that honor the unconditional love and care that your own body and all your organs have for you.
How to select, store, and prepare healing foods and beverages
The program is guided by Dr. Jifunza Wright, M.D., M.P.H., a licensed family physician and co-founder of Black Oaks Center with over 40 years of experience in Food as Medicine. Her work bridges modern clinical practice with plant-based healing systems.

Program Structure
Duration: (3) 5-week options (Summer Session (July-August), MidSummer (August to September) & Fall (September-October)
Frequency: A weekly overnight experience with an evening orientation and didactics with a light meal, an overnight stay with a sunrise hands-on harvesting experience, and a morning wrap-up.
